Roger’s Corner- 01/10/09

Greetings and salutations loyal listeners/readers, it’s your favorite co-host Roger here with a few very important messages about the upcoming weeks here on Gamingvice.net.

First and foremost, I will not be joining Keith, Mel, Gary and all you other Broke Gamers on this week’s episode of Vice Weekly due to the fact that I will moving back into college this Sunday (2nd semester classes start Monday! OMG!). I’ll be there in spirit so keep the Resistance 2 hatred and Smash Bros. love alive for me on this week’s show! And, of course, I’ll be on next week’s episode if all goes according to plan. It’s only one week without me, I’m sure you’ll all manage. I know this was mentioned on last week’s episode but just in case any of you missed it, this week’s topic on Vice Weekly will be all about what games we are looking forward to in ‘09 so I figured, since I won’t be on the show, I might as well tell all you guys here. The 10 games I am most looking forward to in ‘09 are, in no particular order:

  • Cave Story Wii (It’s looking to be the best WiiWare title to date and is a complete remake of the classic Cave Story. Updated graphics, a few new areas and music, as well as the hard work and dedication of anything that comes out of Nicalis, this is goign to be a sure fire winner when it comes out later this year)
  • Street Fighter IV (Listen to Vice Weekly 15. Seriously, you all know I want this game)
  • Punch-Out!!! (It’s been nearly a decade since the last Punch-Out was released and after seeing that they are making a new one with 1 to 1 MotionPlus controls, I couldn’t be more excited)
  • Fat Princess (Looks to be THE PSN game to get this year. Voice Chat, strategy and humor mold something that is completely different than anything any of us have eve rplayed and I can’t wait to get my hands  on it)
  • InFamous (The “superhero” game form the makers of the Sly Cooper series is coming to PS3 later this year and not only does it look like Sucker Punch has anothe rhit on their hands but it also seems that it will be the first REAL Sandbox game since Crackdown)
  • Sin and Punishment 2 (A sequel to the cult N64 import classic, I’m sure this will be the hardcore game that tons of Nintendo fans are looking forward to)
  • Pokemon Platinum (OMG NEW FORM OF GIRATINA)
  • Uncharted 2: Drake’s Fortune (The original Uncharted was seriously a work of beauty and here’s hoping that the sequel will be just as eye-pleasing, and, judging from the trailer at the VGAs and th eleaked screenshots, it will be)
  • Wii Sports Resort (Seriously, who ISN’T looking forward to this? NEXT)
  • The Rumored Zelda Wii (This has been predicted by a TON of industry insiders and analysts as coming to the Wii this year and after yesterday’s leak of Miyamoto’s “Kind Code” patent, it seems as though this game is pretty far into development. In fact, they have been working on this since mid-2006 so I would be shocked if we didn’t at least see a gameplay trailer and demonstration of the game. Honestly though, I see a holiday ‘09 release being very likely)

So there we have it. Curiously, what are YOU all looking forward to in ‘09? I would love to hear from you guys (just comment on this blog to let me know). Who knows? Maybe I can convince the Broke Gamers to read your comments on the air in my absence…

That said, I would also like to make a special announcement on my blog this week (not even Mel and the Broke Gamers know what I am about to say). Long story short, I realize just from AIM messages that I have been receiving that not only do we have a HUGE fanbase here at Gamingvice.net Who knew? That said, I have been alerted that a large number of these fans are also huge Nintendo buffs and, due to the fact that we are primarily PS3 and 360 players here on Gamingvice.net, I figure that I could throw a little much needed Nintendo flair into the site (even though I am also a bit of a Sony fanboy). And, since I won’t be joining the Broke Gamers on this week’s Vice Weekly, I feel as though I should give the community something in return, another podcast (even though its a small one).

Long story short, the show will be called “Wagglefest” and it will be a weekly run-down of Nintendo news as well as commentary on Nintendo games past and present for our lovable site. It will be hosted by me, it will only run about 15/20 minutes (since it is just a personal commentary and rundown with a possible guest inclusion  if anyone is avaliable) and since I’m in college and I figure I might not be able to provide an episode every week, it will be recorded whenever I have time (much in the spirit of the “talk about whatever is on your mind” feel of the site). I will try to get one out during the week so you guys can tell me how you like it. Plus it’s the least I can do since my presence will be missed on this week’s Vice Weekly. So please, look forward to that.

Finally, the last thing I want to mention to you guys is that I am trying to start a Warhawk clan on PS3 and I would like to have as many Gamingvice.net regulars as possible. Drop me a line on Skype (my screen name is Nintendo Theatre) and add me as a friend on PSN (MaxKomRoger is my PSN name) if you’re interested and I’ll get back to you ASAP.

So, for this week, I’m out! See ya soon my fellow Broke Gamers and good luck on this week’s episode of the best gaming podcast on the net, VICE WEEKLY!
