3 Weeks ago on Vice Weekly, we had two very special guests Ryan “Gootecks” Gutierrez and Mike “The Greater Force” Ross two of the best Street Fighter 4 players in the country. If you know anything about this site you know that I’m the biggest fighting game nut around here so it was a true honor to speak with both of these guys. Gootecks has been doing tremendous things for the fighting game community in trying to get them to the professional level at which we see the FPS genre.
Recently in his attempts he’s come to realize that by setting up exhibition matches rather than tournaments, you’re able to generate more excitement similar to boxing fights. With that said, if you’re a California native and looking to test your mettle against the best players in the country or are just trying to get better, don’t shy away from the beating the pros might give you, unlike other genres these guys are very friendly and more than willing to help you improve your game because it expands the community and competition which in turn makes being a fighting game player far more fun.
Jake’s Billiards in Pasadena, California will host the first ever Street Fighter 4 Bar Fights hosted by Victor “Dogface” Ratliff and it will feature:
Ed Ma vs. Combofiend (Ken vs. Balrog)
The #1 Ken in the USA takes on the #1 Balrog.
The most dangerous Sagat player in America takes on the #1 E. Honda player in the country.

If you have any questions at all visit Ryan’s site at Gootecks.com
If you live in California and you love Street Fighter this is the event for you. Make no mistake this is NOT a tournament, but a get together to play a few games, get a few drinks, watch the pros play and overall have a great time, bring your friends, bring your girlfriends, bring that random homeless dude you know who loves Street Fighter, you’re guaranteed to have a phenomenal time and who knows, if you can beat that pro for 500 dollars, maybe you’ll be the next break out sensation in the Street Fighter world.
