I’m live at the Sony Press Conference right now and honestly, I don’t know what to expect. Sony’s been showing their big guns all year long and I’m not sure anything other than exclusive DLC will put them over Microsoft’s amazing press conference. Sony’s conference is starting and I’m pretty hype. As the Lights dim I can feel the energy pulsating through the room as everyone is wondering how Sony will be topping MS. I’m in the second row with Mel and Andre and I’ve just seen the CEO of Ubisoft pass by so I think we can be sure of something insane with Ubisoft. The stand-by music is blaring at the moment and its only making the conference more hype, why can’t the conference start already? The lights pulsate and the anticipation in the room is a living creature, A woman announces we’re 2 minutes from starting the conference. The music stops and the conference starts with darkness and a Playstation logo, its pretty damn hype, not as hype as my podcast but the bass in the room is vibrating through everyone and we’re greeted with short trailers of exclusives and multiplateform games, all of which look amazing. Jack Tretton comes out to huge applause and thanks god that we’ve come out to the press conference. He says they won’t be outdone by anyone. The pics and vids won’t do enough justice to the hype going through the crowd though, the 10 mega pixel ran out of batteries so we switch to 7 Megapixels.
PS2: Sony won’t be done with PS2 even after its 10th year according to Tretton.
Conference is starting with statistics, unfortunately I’m not a fan, but I suppose its necessary, too many people love stats. inFamous is mentioned to a huge applause, but its being used just to hype the ps3 at the moment, Naughty Dog is mentioned with Uncharted 2, and Evan Wells(co pres of ND) to show off some things about Uncharted 2, claims its “new gold standard” for games. Uncharted 2 multiplayer beta starts tonight, and Live demo goes on screen to an applause. The Demo looks nothing short of insane as they show off how beautiful the horizon looks. A helicopter disturbs the peaceful almost tutorial level of the game, we see some combat as Nathan fires at some baddies with no frame rate issues stopping the beautiful background from being rendered or the insane graphics from being shown off. The cover system is more than effect as literally anything can be used as cover, the sound is nothing short of lovely as well, definitely invest in a sound system for this holiday season. Tretton announces that the theme of the conference will be “Only possible on PS3″ he then states that the next game is one of his favorite games for 256 reasons, we then get a live demo of 256 multiplayer, you can use a map to see the scale of the levels and the locations of other players, I’m counting dots as I’m typing and man, I’m losing count. Recon and information are definitely huge themes in this game, squad cooperation looks like a must, Sound is as hard hitting as Uncharted 2 though, which is od for an FPS with 256 players, graphically the game doesn’t look too beefy, but that’s really secondary with the amounts of players running flawlessly on screen. Frame rates are a little weird though, not sure if its because of the projector or the game is just like that. The producer is talking a lot about strategy then states a playable demo will be on the show floor later today. Tretton comes back and begins to talk about PSP. August 25th for Dissidia FF and November for Assassin’s Creed. Announces Teen/Tween Girl games such as Hannah Montana and some new smaller titles such as Loco Roco 2. Kaz Harai comes out to a huge pop. He’s talking about PS brand growing in the heart of the digital era, my guess is digital distribution, but lets see…PSP GO, designed for digi distribution but will be pushed alongside the regular PSP for those who still love tangible media. 16g off Flash memory, built in wi-fi, Integrated Bluetooth and SD card support. New Application for Playstation Store for the home Computer called Media Go. Think iTunes for your Sony products. PSP new app called Sense Me, which will give you a playlist based on your mood. All PSP titles will be both Digi Distributed and UMD. PSP Go will be the same price point as the original PSP one. Video Delivery service will be available on PSP. Pretty tough stuff, and that’s just 2 game demos and PSP stuff. Gran Torismo Daddy comes out, to talk about GT on PSP, they have it running on the PSP Go running at 60FPS. 800 Cars and 35 tracks with different layouts. GT on PSP is full scale its got everything from Liscense mode to mission modes. Garage sharing between PSPs via ad hoc. Connectivity has been added as the theme of the game. It will be at the E3 show floor. The begin to show off the game on screen on the PSP Go, definitely the best looking PSP game I’ve seen, but then again when is Gran Turismo not one of the best looking games on its platform? Launch title with the PSP Go?
New MGS title: MGS: Peace Walker: Hideo Kojima comes out to talk about the game, Second time seeing this man in person and I’m no less hype. Peace Walker will be for the PSP. Its set in the 70s, 10 years after MGS3. Hideo Kojima will be writing the script, the MGS4 team will be heavily involved as well as themes from that game. Kojima claims that it will be a true sequel not a spin-off. Trailer is shown. Mad Hype. Costa Rica seems to be the location of the game, shows the beginnings of Outer Heaven, Graphics are PSP, so don’t expect MGS4, but they look great for the system. Big Boss’ forming of Outer Heaven are shown in this game along with what seems to be Co-op as they show an army of Snake looking characters, with two Snakes going into a box for the final moments and a confused guard.
Resident Evil Portable, Monster Hunter, Hannah Montana, Harry Potter, Socom: Fire Team Bravo 3, and Little Big Planet.
Announcement of Persona 1 on PSP, Warriors Orochi 2, pixel junk monsters, Crimson Gem Saga, Fat Princess, Umbound SSaga, Petz Hamster Bunch and Hannah Montana, Rock Band Unplugged, and Fate Unlimited Codes.
PSN: Adding 51 PS1 titles including Final Fantasy 7
I know Don’s not hype but plans to better Home with infamous and socom items and a lot of companies also adding items.
PS3!: Uncharted 2, infamous, madden, FF13, MAG, Batman Arkham, Brutal Legend, White Knight Chronicles, Dirt2, Ghostbusters, Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2, WET, Mafia 2, Buzz, Quiz World, Saw, KOF XII, Ice Age, Tekken 6, Overlord 2, Red Faction Guerrilla, Tiger Woods, Dark Void, G-force, GH, NCAA Football, Planet 51, Karaoke Rev, Heavy Rain, Battlefield 19, Gravity Crash, Hustle Kings, Shooter, Trash Panic, Critter Cruchm katamari, Fat Pricess, Zombie apocolyse, Singstar Queen, DC Unvicerse, Fuel, Zombie Apoc, GI Joe, LBP, The Saboteur, Bioshock 2, Ratchet, Fight Night r4, GOW3,
Rockstar: Agent, new eclusive to PS3. 1970s espionage action. Claims will have GTA must-haveability
Ubisoft to talk about AC2, Live Demo: some great crowd AI, quest for vengeance, some dude gets owned during the climb, use of Leonardo Da Vinci as a way to get inventions and gadgets into the game. apparently you can get all Batman on people, smarter AI, close combat finishers, seem to be some easy 1 hit kills, not a bad thing though especially with what they’re going for, huge improvement over the first game, no freezing during the demo
Final Fantasy XIII: Video trailer: Just some CG stuff that you’ll see on this site and a bunch of others I’m sure. Looking for some gameplay but that doesn’t seem to be happening right now. THere we go, seems to be mostly like FFXII but far more interesting and larger in scope.
Final Fantasy XIV Online: PS3 exclusive, my guess is that this was the Square MMO, 2010
New Motion Controller: Claims to be better than any other motion controller, for true? or company bluff? New Prototype is shown, PSeye can track glowing light on the end of the glowing controller. There’s a 1:1 ration with the motion , the controller moves exactly as the demo-er moves exactly, can change the controller into various item(virtually of course), designed for true gaming experience not just silly casual “PSeye” games, truly a spectacle, I’ve had enough of motion controllers, but this is definitely the best looking one seen. It can be used for drawing and many other things, but this live blog won’t do it justice without the video. All I’m going to say is…If they get this technology right because it certainly has the applications to do so, Nintendo is in trouble as the Demo-er goes for the dramatic finish with a Robin-Hood style head
New IP: United Front Games: Modnation Racers, new “Create Play Share” Genre: Think LBP with Race Cars and Race tracks, Mario Kart style racing, with full customization options, Track Studio- track creator, track creator is pretty lovely and in depth, from the exact time of day, to the landscape and scope of the track and background.
Project Trico: The Last Guardian, Starts of as the same trailer, waiting to see if its continued. This is the third title in the ICO trilogy appearantly, so ther eis indeed a connection between the games. Its the same old trailer just with the official name of the game and cleaner. I change that there’s some new gameplay elements, it seems as though there’ll be some stealth involved.
GT5 teaser: Was just some flashy graphics, no real announcement on anything new about the game, standard stuff
God of War 3: Live Demo was amazing, the game went from what I thought was a CG cutscene straight to gameplay, fans of the series will truly enjoy as the playable demo on the show floor was very much like the first two entries in the series, all in all same God of War fun in a prettier package.
