To start off, if you own Burnout Paradise and have a spare $12.99 you definitely need to purchase the “Big Surf Island” expansion. It is an island about the size of Downtown Paradise but has a lot to offer within its 12 blocks.
This review will be short due to the fact that it is only an expansion and there is basically nothing new game play wise here. One of the biggest additions to the game however are the islands 15 Mega Jumps that are spread throughout the area. These are in fact the biggest jumps from any Burnout game and will really keep you on the edge of your seat every time to you complete one. Some are easy to find while others may take a little exploration, but they are all worth it in the end. In addition, there are also 45 billboards and 75 smashes to find. The expansion packs plenty of content.

Now because the island is so small, races are now checkpoint style instead of open world style which makes sense as there are only 12 blocks. There are the other standard events as well, with a total of 15 events.
When you begin the game for the first time you are instantly given the new Carson Dust Storm buggy which is simply put, amazing. The stats may be low on this bad boy but it will definitely provide the thrills as it is great at barrel rolling and getting a lot of air. Personally, it is the only car I use now even though I own most of the other car add-on packs. Along with the buggy, there are 8 other cars to unlock, none of which I will spoil for you.

No other team has developed more content for their game (both free and premium) other than Criterion and I whole heartedly tip my hat to them. They have done it again with the “Big Surf Island” expansion to Burnout Paradise and we should all hope they keep making more content in the furture. While the island is small, you will have plenty of thrills and gameplay hours spent in it and it is a great addition to the original Paradise city.

Great review Tony! When I pull out my PS3 and have some extra cash lying around, I’ll definitely pick up this expansion.
ahaha Roger…that was Keith, not Tony..
I thought it was Tony! XD. Well Keith, great job nonetheless.

no thanks. why do people keep saying its the size of downtown paradise? am i wrong in thinking “down town” is the entire main city from the east shore to the mountains, or is it just some little section of the main city? well regardless, that island is way to small to warrant $13. man i was expecting a huge island to play in, not a tiny little off shore parking lot. ill pass.
Is this enough to warrant a purchase of the game? I still haven’t picked up Burnout since it’s on my backlog and I’m really interested in it.
Jumpship……….
BUY THIS GAME….
I’m not too sure if I’m getting the DLC just yet…but Burnout on PSN for 19.99 is a ridiculous deal…
just for the online play alone…it is ridiuclous..
