Just when we thought that Nintendo wasn’t going to have an “October Conference” this year, it seems as though we may just get one. The Digital Contents Expo, an annual electronics event that allows visitors to experience the latest in digital technology, is being held this year in Tokyo’s Odaiba area from October 22nd to October 25th this year and, as it turns out, everyone’s favorite game developer will be giving a keynote speech on the 24rd at 1:30 in the afternoon.
According to the official website of the expo, Shigeru Miyamoto will be giving the keynote to commemorate the opening of Asiagraph, a sub-event of the Digital Contents Expo, and will be speaking on his game production work over the past 30 years as well as what his games have done for the industry. And, while I’m sure his keynote will be interesting, what can we expect from it announcement wise?
Well, to be honest, probably not a whole lot. Last time Miyamoto gave a keynote, back at GDC 2007 (posted above), he showed off a trailer for the game he was working on at the time, Mario Galaxy, but aside from that, nothing else really came out of the keynote. What makes this year’s Miyamoto keynote interesting however is the prospect of the heavily-rumored Zelda Wii trailer.
As Infendo posted back in September, an anonymous and trusted tipster alerted the website that Nintendo is hard at work to getting a Zelda Wii trailer ready for October and, since there wasn’t a major October conference held in the beginning of this month, it seems as though this upcoming Miyamoto keynote would be the perfect spot to show it off. Like I mentioned before, it wouldn’t be the first time Miyamoto showed off a trailer during one of his keynotes. Other than that though, expect some quips about game development and some extremely interesting insights on the inner workings of Nintendo as well as Miyamoto’s always present humor.
Miyamoto’s speech will be held at the National Museum of Emerging Science and Innovation, the same venue as last month’s Final Fantasy XIII premiere, on the 24th starting at 13:30. Nintendo fans, start your hype trains!
