Talk about some exciting news to wake up to! On the latest episode of Nintendo Week this morning, Nintendo announced out of the middle of nowhere that Excitebike World Rally, a 2.5-D update to the 1985 arcade racer classic Excitebike, would be coming to the downloadable WiiWare service on November 9th, 2009. So, just to get that straight, an awesome brand-new Nintendo game that was just announced this morning is coming out before New Super Mario Bros. Wii. WOW, that is what I call short notice.
According to the announcement video, the new Excitebike will feature the famous track editor, motion control and classic NES-style “Wiimote on its side” control, and the terrain-deforming that was introduced in Excite Truck and Excitebots for Wii. The coolest part about the game though is that it will feature online multiplayer via the console’s Wi-Fi connection. NICE.
More information on the game will be released during next week’s Nintendo Week episode but all info is pointing to this being an absolutely stellar re-boot of the classic franchise!
