Back in April ’09 SCEA registered the Starhawk trademark which spawned all sorts of speculation as to how deep the sequel to Warhawk would be, since then SCEA has been walking on eggshells with the infor on this title.
Until recently as of December 17th, the http://www.starhawkgame.com/ domain has redirected your browser to the Playstation home page – the plot thickens. Dylan Jobe, President of LightBox Interactive Studio has sporadically updated his Twitter page with comments about this game along with a few hints here and there which have stirred up speculation about this game.
As of now, we have some information as to what we can expect from this game and how deep the rabbit hole should be going which leads me to expect an announcement at E3. Reason being is that quite a bit of info has been kept close to the vest about this game for almost 9 months and a late 2010 release date shouldn’t be out of the question.
Regardless, here’s what we should expect from the sequel of one of the more fun online multiplayer games available on the Playstation 3 (obviously Warhawk). Starting with the obvious being an amazing online experience for “capture the flag”, “deathmatch”, “team deathmatch” among a few others and a possible addition in that department, we can also expect a single player campaign as well as online co-op.
Not to mention the game not holding your hand when you aim your weapon as well as a revamped menu screen that will look like you’re actually about to play a next gen game this time around (the menu screen for warhawk was downright horrible).
On top of all of these upgrades with the game being in space and on other planets, it appears that they want to make the online experience more massive – as in MMO. Pretty much think what Zipper has/is trying to do with MAG with the number of players in a game and offering that in your Starhawk experience – sounds awesome.
A real unique way to do it is to be able to move from planet to planet or travel space station to station and join random battles while they are all linked to the same server rather than offering huge maps for each level – have a bunch of maps linked to the same game for an ultimate experience. Of course this van be divided up between the types of games that are played as far as the different types of deathmatches or co-op scenario’s.
LightBox Interactive has the stove on and they are cooking up something special real soon, so stay tuned as we should expect something at E3 which GamingVice will be there to report this news on our very own Vice Weekly Live.

ooh! I really like the online co-op idea
but I don’t really see what they would do with a single player campaign. I expect a story in my single player games because if I didn’t want a story then I’d play online MP with my friends. So how would they incorporate a story into the SP campaign? Or would the campaign be without story and really just be for people who can’t play the multiplayer online?
I’m so excited for this game cause i loved the first one so much its just the gameplay was so fun and immersive and i disagree with u on the menu cause i still think it was good but i hope they keep splitscreen cause many games that are releasing right now only have single player or co-op because of online but i believe they will keep and I’m sure their going to make it awesome like the first
if they go MAG way they are in for a flop for sure!MAG is going to be the 1º flop of 2010, its already
indeed a flop
So, wait, this is just speculation, right? What you want? None of it true? Not much evidence to back it up? I got really excited for a moment. I think this’d be great. Oh, and could you give some examples of the Twitter hints and teases?
@Chupem
How will having large numbers make the game flop? Are you that dumb?
the only speculation was about the MAG type of online play…the rest has been confirmed and also hinted at by Dylan Jobe via twitter feed….
and he lays it on pretty thick too…
So if theres a beta how would we know??
there would be a likely announcement about this…and this game shouldn’t be a flop as some people are saying because warhawk is and has been a popular PS3 title for quite some time..and they are only expanding on the experience in every way…
day 1 purchase…
Even if they were to not change much by way of game play, I would be happy with a different map layout, the online gameplay and the fact that its 3rdperson shooter will bring me back for sure! Im easy to satisfy, and dont beat up on the small things in life like some others complain about!…hell just give us another patch to hold us over, I still play every day or at least every other day!
